One year back at home

by Piper

Now that I’m back home, every morning I wake up happy and reviled to be home. I didn’t know that you could appreciate your home so much since we went on the big trip for a while. I love the fact that I don’t have to wake up every morning to corn flakes for breakfast, sight-seeing and worst of all cathedrals.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Even though I’m back at school things are still not the best. I’m behind in Spanish and I wish I got to experience all the same things that the other kids in my grade learned in 2nd grade. Even though I’m behind in Spanish, I’m ahead in math. On the ship the only things mommy and daddy taught me and Sydney were math, reading comprehension, history, how to write blog posts, and I think other stuff I am forgetting. So now that I think about it, I’m ahead in math, reading comprehension, history and how to write a blog post because mommy and daddy taught us more on the ship than we would learn in school.

BEING HOME

The best thing about being home is seeing my family and my friends again, but a lot of things have changed since last year. For example Lorrie doesn’t pick me Sydney and Max up from school every day, so we don’t get to see her as often as we did. The hot lunch people quit so we have to make our own lunches. This year in school Sydney and me aren’t going to get homeroom teacher and we are also going to be in a different building and I don’t know my schedule but hopefully I will survive.

Even though I’m happy to be back home I still miss my friends from the ship. Going around the world is pretty bad, but you do miss the friends that you saw so often. It was good making friends but, sad losing them. The good thing is I still have a lot of their emails.

GOING BACK
Now that I’m back from the big trip I realize how much I take for granted. I think going around the world has made such a big impact on me, so now I’m much more caring and aware of what’s happening in the world right now.

Life is so much better when you don’t have to wake up and be super stressed about going to another museum in another country.

  1. Nice to hear your thoughts on being back home!
Best statement: “On the ship the only things mommy and daddy taught me and Sydney were math, reading comprehension, history, how to write blog posts, and I think other stuff I am forgetting.”

  2. We met some nice people on our past travels too. We keep in touch via email. And what’s really cool, when we travel again, we have been able to meet up with some of them and get together to visit.

  3. You asked and they gave you some interesting responses. I have had some similar feelings about my own travels. We can learn a lot from even from the beginning travelers. Papa
